Biggest winner... Sabres fans. The ownership is going for it. Getting the team players that can help in the push to supplant the idle Toronto team as the third seed.

They telling the team and fans, we're rewarding your efforts (Eichel and co) and loyalty (fans).

You are correct about the ownership is trying to get the team into the playoffs this year. At least management is trying. However, I don't think the Sabres are good enough.

Biggest winners were Chicago who got Patrick Kane and Duncan Keith.

Time will tell for the Panthers/Hurricanes deal. As someone that has watched just about every Panthers game this year I was calling for a Trocheck trade. The man has become a turnover machine and has not just been the same since the injury. I was once under the impression that we had Trocheck as the best deal in hockey but he has slid since then and I am not so sure that Carolina cleaned up on that trade. But as I said time will tell.

Edmonton is definitely NOT the big winner. Expectations have been eroded so badly after years of gross mismanagement, that we’re ready to applaud any type of seemingly positive activity. But Ennis and Green are barely NHL caliber players. AA is overrated but probably still useful. And they paid a steep price to get him. Calling EDM the big winner is not accurate at all

Carolina did OK, but their failure to get a goalie is mind-boggling. And that immediately precludes them from being labeled a winner. Also, Vatanen is hurt and not nearly as effective as he once was

As much as I hate to admit it, BOS is easily the big winner here. They got more talented (Kase) and meaner (Ritchie), while somehow unloading the Backes contract (thanks Anaheim???) with almost no penalty whatsoever

Tampa looked good until they lost their minds momentarily. Still, they’re stacked and likely the cup faves

I guess you know it all. All the hockey experts and analysists must be wrong and not know wtf they are talking about. Sounds like someone is McJealous.

I guess the flip side to these guys being so underrated is that few notice when they drop off. Interesting, didn't know that about Trocheck. Maybe a change of scenery will help.

I like the moves Edmonton made because it should be enough to get them comfortably in a playoff position and I think EDM fans will be satisfied with that. Will it guarantee them a deep playoff run, well that remains to be seen but just a chance to get into the dance brings hope for the fans and gives an extra spark to an already elite captain! He didn't have to break the bank for these guys and can remain competitive. EDM need more speed in there lineup and AA and TE will give them that.

Look, I don't want to pick on them but what they did was gross mismanagement, the kind we haven't seen in the NHL in a long time.

The Andy Greene trade is ridiculous, what they paid for Pageau insane, and then following it up with that contract........

I don't know how much evidence people need to see, but aging stay at home defenseman do not contribute anything positive to your lineup.

I don't know how anyone can't just look up the last five guys to have a career year at 27 and just checked how their deals turned out. This is true across all sports. There is literally 20 David Clarkson's for every Jose Bautista. And that might be generous.

Lamoriello had a hall of fame career and he earned the reputation he has - but if you look at everything he's done since the Kovalchuk fiasco, he is pretty much sub-Peter Chiarelli.

Just add Pageau to the contracts for Komorov, Martin, Zaitsev, Marleau and several other I'm forgetting.

Seriously, no one else in the league would get this much rope. And I'm not trying to troll Islanders fans either, just telling the truth.

a 2nd round pick for defensive depth in the playoffs? what's the big deal, they are a team that really hasn't dealt away picks

AA is gonna be lights out with McDavid. He’s never played with anyone good on a consistent basis and the defensive complaints are overrated. Is he Pavel or Hank, hell no but our D was so bad, it’s a shame to blame a forward or goalie.

Hope he lights it up in Edmonton. You got a stud that we’ll regret trading for a few years.
